Purchase one gallon. A 915 uses between three and four quarts. Pelican sells it.

Pump it in until it runs out the filler hole. And remember, remove the filler plug FIRST - make *sure* you can get it out before you try to remove the drainer plug.
While it's empty and dribbling, pull the access cover too, and make sure your shift rod fork is tight on the studs.

oh and if you only raise up the back...and high...that might mess up how much goes in...
try to have it as level as possible...I mean don't have th back up 21" when you do this... also buy one of the pumps from pep boys or other fine automotive stores.... a suggestion would be to get a long piece of flex tube from home depot...hook that to the pump and jam it into the fill hole...put a nice large turkey roasting pan uner the fill area...that way you can pump the oil out from under the car...it gets really tight laying on your back and pumping the viscous oil... also those pumps come with a short piece of hose that doesn't reach to the bottom of the swepco jug...so you may want to lengthen that too then pump to your hearts content untill you see cool blue looking goop dripping into the drip pan... |

Lee,
The access cover has a U-shaped guide bolted to three studs ... if the nuts come loose, shifting into or out of 3rd and 4th gears becomes very vague or impossible! Remember the cold and frozen drive one Pelicanhead made last winter accompanied by wife in toasty-warm support vehicle? BTW, guys ... Pelican now can get the Swepco 212 80W-140 Moly Multi-Viscosity Gear Oil! Thanks, Wayne!

One more tip -- especially for winter. Warm the stuff up before you start pumping it in. It gets thick when it's cool, and those cheap parts-store pumps can make it even trickier.

The site is updating right now - the new files get copied over at about 4AM PST. The section with the 212 should show up about then...

When I changed mine I used a two litre plastic pop bottle with the bottom cut off and then put a long piece of hose epoxyed into the cap end of it.I then hung it up beside the car from the ceiling kind of like a interveinus at the hospital,It took a while but was a great reason to sit and drink a beer and watch the porsche get its "medicine".

How is the "new" Swepco better/worse than the old?
Old_Skul has it right: now is the time to tighten up that fork. Do not overtighten, and drop some green or blue Loctite or equiv. (not requiring heat to remove). Also a good time to replace the non-magnetic plug at the top (fill) with a magnetized version if you have the inclination. John
