valve stem for outlaw (951 spare) rims?

what valve stem should I use on the 951 spare rim for road use? they come with two. my thought is to use a machine screw and nut to plug the hole for the deflator one. should I use the other one as is or remove, drill out the hole, and use conventional rubber stems. my preference is the rubber for real world use and also, one of the rims is missing the stems. anyone dealt with this or have any thoughts? thanks, Don.

Just out of curiosity what's the size and offset of these rims and what's the going rate for one?

Big bucks.....once the "money is no object 356 crowd" started in on them the prices went thru the roof. Unless you LOVE the look, save yer money.

I have a couple 16" versions. They are the same with holes like the ones in the pictures. Mine are red stock with unused space saver tires. I agree welding up the extra valve is the way to go.

$1000.00 each...

they're 5.5x15, backspacing is 4.5 inches. my understanding is they're the lightest wheel for a 911, period. they're not too pricey. I picked them up on early S. going rate seems to be 500- 800 dollars/set. it is a bit of a chore to put together a set with singles.

for me, easily worth it. saved about 22 lbs ( unsprung) weight ( was running 6x16) that's huge at the point I'm at. I've got 1900 lbs in my sights now.

thanks for the input guys. I'll go with the normal rubber stems. maybe with fuchs stem supports.

I thought the Magnesium MAHLE gasburners were still the lightest. Only reason they are not as popular is they are so narrow. And now they are going to be corroded and fatigue cracked.

The Mahle is 9.5 lbs. The space savers are listed at 10.5 lbs.

The problem with BOTH is the limited widths. 15x5.5 isn't much to play with when putting down serious HP.

BTW, the Boxster spare is a 17.

I stand corrected. OK, they're the second lightest wheel. I'd go gasburners except for three reasons:

1. expensive

2. mag corrosion and strength issues

3. they're ugly ( my personal opinion but I'm sure most would agree)

I don't mind the lack of width, they're going on a stock SWB body, so 6 inch is the widest I could go anyway. besides, 1900lbs + 250hp ( hopefully 275 with the new 3.2) + skinny tires = tailhappy fun
