Heya guys. My '84 has a stumble to it. Worse in cold weather, really bad sometimes at idle but noticeable at all RPM's. My Dad is guessing a fuel injector may be ill. Well, it just so happens that I have the heat exchangers off so I got a good look at each cylinders exhaust port color. Some are VERY WHITE (lean I assume), others are grey, one is darker grey, almost black (rich I assume). Is it safe to conclude that they in fact are not burning equally, and that the white ones may in fact have the bad injectors? What else can I learn from this situation?

Colby,
If anything, I would suspect the cylinder that is darker than the others! Does its' spark plug color match the port color? That injector may be stuck partly open or sticking. Do you have the Bentley manual? ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |

Yes, I have a Bentley manual...I'll look in there. Yes, you are right. I suspect more likely an injector is stuck open, as I have smelled unburnt gas when it runs rough and have had decreased MPG. What color should the exhaust ports be?
