Porsche Crest Inexpensive Hyd Clutch for 915 tranny?

Has anyone installed a Hydraulic Clutch assy in their 72-86 911?

Is there an inexpensive combination available? I would prefer a bolt-in package if possible.

I really like the Wevo hydraulic slave unit but will it work with a Stock clutch? My use is strictly street driving. I do not want a race clutch.

I read about using the CB Performance 6076 Clutch Slave cyl with an aftermarket pedal assy.

Anyone know the total cost of this combination? Any photos?

Len

Just talked w Hayden at Wevo, and their Clutch Slave is not compatible with the stock 915 clutch.

So back to the search. This is for a street 911 only.

If their master is good, it isn't hard to buy one the basic (Howe) hydraulic throwout bearings and modify/fabricate the needed stuff inside the bellhousing. I think the master is the hardest part of doing this, they all seem like huge money.

The 915 does not have a bolted flange at the input shaft that these rely on for rotational control, you could use the throwout fork shaft bore to anchor something that would do it. It would require good ability to measure and machine stuff, so maybe not for the home gamer at some level.

Plan B would be an external slave, but that does not eliminate all of the mousetrap inside the bellhousing. Easier to service...

Why would you want to do that? I really like the direct feel of the cable operated clutch much more than the spongey feel of a hydraulic clutch/G50.

+1. The cable is easier to adjust to get it exactly they way you want it

There doesn't have to be friction.

Can't we all just get along?

I don't care what clutch others prefer.

But, if a man is carrying a clutch...

I will look at him askance.

Part of the issue is the Pull-type clutch that is used in the 915.

I would have to convert back to a push type clutch as in a 901 or 914 for the Wevo internal release mech to work. Their 915 Lightweight clutch assy is the push type.

+1

Put in a new clutch cable. Rebuild the pedal cluster. Grease all of the moving parts at the trans end.

I did all of this and you can now operate my clutch by hand.

And it didn't cost a lot at all. Why go through the expense of a hydraulic setup when what you have got is just fine?

These guys have something that might work. Inexpensive might not be the operative word, though. You'll probably need to contact them as they don't list Porsche.

I've seen a 930 transaxle actuated by an external arrangement. Probably made by Fabcar since I believe the shifter and the triple hydraulic reservoirs were Fabcar? Try asking Sol Snyderman at Perfect Power. Perfect Power

The car I saw was a potential purchase (that ended up being WAY out of my league) at Sol's shop. White 993 widebodied SCCA GT car that was built off of a 70's chassis, 3.3 L n/a engine, 930 gearbox, Penske coilovers, air jacks, BBS motorsport wheels, Peterson front oil tank, Stack dash system..... built by a shop in Kansas (not Imagine/Stephen Kaspar) Lots of good stuff way over my budget, despite the extremely appealing price. Not trying to show off my "knowledge" by talking up a bunch of parts, just trying to describe the car since Sol may or may not still have it in the shop in storage for his customer. So he'd be going by memory.
