WHere is anyone getting a Throttle Idle Microswitch?

WHen checking my Throttle Position Switch I also checked my Idle Microswitch and found that it was ON all of the time which means it is broken. WHere can I get one that will fit?

I also found that the Throttle Position Switch # 0280-120-308 for a Turbo or later 911 will work but cone on later at about 45 degrees as opposed to 30 to 35 degrees. If I keep my foot into it too much, maybe I will need to put this in to decrease the fuel mileage

Close (Like where you live to me You have a 1984 & above and I need 1983 and below down to 1981. I still have CIS. Thanks, I was really hoping!

I have been looking at Micro Switches on the Internet and came very close with the size lever and mounting holes but it had 3 screws. If 2 screws I would have been in business!

I Took a Loop and got this information off of the Switch. It was Made by Hartmann, Series F64 10(2)A 250V. It measures 35 MM Across, 25 MM High and 10 MM Thick. the Mounting holes are 17 MM Between centers. I have sent an e-mail to Hartmann asking if they have this available or a similar one.

Wow - the hartmans are not cheap - 20 euros? can you take a pic of yours? spray it with some contact cleaner (not brake cleaner) and work that puppy? or iit real gone?
still have mechanical switch action? mouser, digi-key and Newark should have lots, but you'd have to check their data sheets.

Yes!! Big time!

Very close to what this looks like but with a Straight lever. Mounted up side down so it touches the end of the Throttle.

I also appreciate you few guys trying to help.

Look at a throttle switch for a 1988-1992 VW Golf 1.8l with digifant injection. looks very close. There is an idle switch and a full throttle switch on the bottom of the throttle body.

Thank you, I was looking at BMW's Audies and MB for years around this. I will let you know what I see and can get. I have received a reply from Hartmann that the one I wanted was not them but they gave me the correct one and I sent them an e-mail.

I saw this Pic on flea bay and other than the Wiring which I do not care about, it looks very close. I then tried to find one and was not having much luck but I will check a dealer and then see what happens

That pic is upside down. It is from the VW Golf. The idle switch is on top where cable goes on, the full throttle one in the bottom.

Radio Shack carries similar switches to the pic/description above

SPDT Switch Without Roller - RadioShack.com

I used one of these to replace a brake switch on a motorcycle and it was nearly identical.

Thanks bill, I have (So Far) looked at several hundred and they are all a Lot smaller than I want. Yes, the one you pictured is like the Sample I posted which was to give Steely an idea of what the differences were between what he has and what I need,

Most of the Micro switches handle the correct voltage (250V) and many the Amperage 2 or 3. The problem is the physical size. the Porsche is 35 MM Long. the largest I have seen is 20. the distance between mounting holes on the Porsche is 17 mm and on average the aftermarket are between 9 and 12 mm. The Porsche is 25 MM Tall and he other are 12 to 15 mm tall.

I may have to make something work but I feel I can get a lot closer than I am right now. Hopefully Hartmann will still have something or know where I can buy it.

All of this bothers me for one reason. Porsche in the last few years has been saying that they are committed to keeping the older Air Cooled 911's running and as for the Water Cooled cars like the 924, 928 and 944 not so much. This is something small and simple that must work because to drive any car, it must Idle and start up cold. I have never seen a car that started up Hot and ready to run but I have seen some that did not Idle.

GTI Hop, I have been busy. I also sought the advice of John Walker and between the 2 of you, here is what I found for the VW Golf "GL" 8 V 1.8 engine Manual

Best price $101.95 with Free Shipping
OES Genuine Throttle Switch

Another switch I found by the encouragement of JW, is this one for an 1990 Audi "90" with a 2.3 ltr 5 cylinder Manual trans. Also $101.95

PartsTrain.com - Hard to Find Auto Parts and Truck Parts -

The first one was Discontinued 2/10 but is still in auto parts wearhouses.

The one for the Audi may still be available over the counter or still at the Parts warehouses. Since there is more to the VW and they are both the same price I ordered the VW. When I receive it I wlll post the comparison Pics so if anyone has a 1981 to 1983 SC, you may seriously want to consider getting one for a rainy day!

I just got it today! Other than having the place for the female connectors to push on, it is perfect right down to the 15% movement, Same Screw Hole spacing AND Made by Hartmann. I just ordered another one since they went out of production in February this year. I fugure if the first one lasted for over 20 years and I will now have 2 of them, this will not be something I need to ever look for other than in my Glove Box

A very Special thanks to GTI Hop and as everyone here knows The Man himself John Walker
