fog light switch markings
I am cleaning up some wiring problems in my 82sc. there are fog lights but no relay, there are a few burnt wires that I replaced and now I just need to hook up the fog lights. I bought all wiring harnesses and I need to know which wires go to which terminals on the fog light switch itself.(all other hookups including to fuse panel I have already done) I looked in the archives and someone disconnected their headlight switch without noting terminals. there was a reply someone gave noting what wires went where by markings on the switch itself. I am wondering if someone has that info for the stock foglight switch
thanks lou |

Lou, here's a link to the fog lights wiring diagram found under elec. diagrams on this site. Sorry it's not color, but you'll note it lists the wires color. Hope this fits you car...should be for an '82SC. Hope this helps..Paul http://pelicanparts.com/911/911_Parts/Electrical/911_electrical_82SC_fog.jpg

Sorry I wasn't much help. Looks like both John & Warren not around right now. Maybe they'll weigh in later? Have to admit, my fog light switch has always worked, and it would be a ***** to get a peek at it, so I've never messed with it. Might be different coding anyway...'72 to '82. Pretty low voltage between the switch and the relay, it looks like. Meaning, I don't think you'd hurt anything if you did a bit of experimenting? Fogs should come on with low beams of the headlights on, assuming that hasn't changed in the two decades?

well, I got to the switch
There are number markings next to the connectors on the back of the fog light switch and they correspond with wiring diagrams, as well they should. Looks like it goes as follows: Connectors on back of fog light switch 31 gets Brown(ground) 58 gets Black/Blue (switch illumination) 15 gets Grey (coming from fog light relay harness) I gets Blue/White (coming from fog light relay harness), also has jumper with White/Green (goes to rear fog light, only in Euro models) III is empty on mine and I dont see it mentioned in the wiring diagrams Hope someone can confirm if I am right, I am going to try and hookup tomorrow thanks Lou |
