NEED HELP 915 selector shaft seal replacement

Anyone have any tips on how to replace this seal? I heard that you can do it from the shifter link housing inside the car but most people do it from the bottom? Do you have to drop the motor to do this?

I heard it was a pain in the you know what to replace from the shifter housing

(915 Transmission 911SC)

Can anyone help with info?
