battery disconnect

My 87 Carrera uses the electrical battery power to open and lock the car"s doors...
I installed a battery disconnect gadget to secure the car by removing the little knob.
BUT if I remove that knob, I can not lock the car...
Am I missing something? is there a way to lock MANUALLY the car?

Use the key?

Yes.
With the door open, turn the knob to pull the plunger down, close door while holding the exterior handle trigger in.

What if you lock the car before you disconnect the battery?

Your key will always unlock the car from the exterior, regardless of the power supply.

battery disconnect

bkreigsr, do you mean that by lowering the plunger and holding the exterior door handle and closing the door it will open with the key when there is no battery power?

Or, do it the hard way.
Battery disconnected, exit vehicle, insert key, turn key 1/4 turn clockwise to lock car.
Entry is the reverse.
Your key will work in the tumbler regardless of power supply.

Correct - central locking won’t work but each door can be opened independently
