Question Show us your...Engine Bay Fuses

'88 3.2 Carrera. My Fresh Air Blower doesn't. With power directly to the blower unit it does. Took it out and apart - the bi-metal switch (resistor for multiple speeds) is fine. Tracing back to the fuse box in the engine bay. Based on the pic in Mr. Bentley's manual - seem to be missing a wire going to Fuse # 1 (Red one on the bottom of the stack), which is for the "Fan Passenger Compartment" according to the Relay and Fuse cover/Dr. Porsche and Mr. Bentley. Did a search on this forum and found a few others that indeed do not look like mine.

I think the 2 wires on the left are always hot, and the fuse w/o the wire has its power jumpered to it from in inside the holder. if you have a meter, you can verify. I only have 2 wires there as well on my 87. Bentley just shows 2 wires too. There is also a blower control unit, but I don't know it's location - this could be part of the problem.

Engine bay fuse panel

ATO fuses on custom aluminum base plate! Four fuses instead of three. The fourth fuse protects the power circuit to the MSD.

Thanks for the info

Thanks much for the info, diagram, and thoughts. Get my multimeter back from a neighbor today, so I can do some more diagnostic investigation. Will post findings.

Fresh Air Blower? Isn't that fused from the front fuse panel...it is fuse 13 on the SC.
The rear panel fuses are for the heater fans if I recall.

I don't have the CKT for yor model/year, however, Mystery train is correct.

Check for a corroded fuse on the fuse panel.

Here's a better pic:

pm me as needed.

Good luck,

Gerry

I like that Fred. I've been looking to do a little upgrade back there myself. Quick search found this,

4 Circuit ATO/ATC Fuse Block

Better check it to see what the individual and total load (amps) capacity is. Often times these type panels will only be rated for 15 amps per fuse and 50-60 amps total. My panel is good for 20 amps per fuse and 80 amps total!

Fred Cook! Please help! Are you the guy who makes ATO fuse block replacements? I would like to replace all the german fuse blocks w/ blade fuses.

Yep, that's me! I can build a main fuse panel for any 911 from 1974 thru 1989 and for 1978-79 930s. Also have a 4 fuse panel to go in the engine compartment. Right now I am at a standstill as my supplier of the fuse holders is waiting for a shipment which is supposed to be here near the end of May. Would be pleased as punch to fix one up for you then.

Fred,
What about a 1970T - is there an issue converting the older ones? I ask because you mention from 1974 and up.

Vr,
