Window Adjustment...

All-

I have replaced all the window rubber/felt channels on both doors on my 79SC (ok, "while I was in there" I rebuilt the locks, new door stops, replaced one window motor, new speakers, ad infinitum, but I digress!). I put a plastic membrane over the door panel before installing the outer door panel, and with the current rains in SoCal, I wanted to check for leakage. The driver's side door is leaking like sieve. I think the water is coming past the "wiper" on the outside of the glass on the top edge of the door. Seems a bit excessive, and though it is draining out the weep holes in the bottom of the door, having all that water inside the door does not seem like a good idea.

I have the window frames adjusted pretty well- I followed the targa manual- so that they go up and down smoothly, seat well into the targa edge, etc.

I am wondering if I should try to re-adjust the window frames to create more pressure against the rubber wiper to prevent water ingress (or at least dramatically reduce it).

Thoughts? Ideas?

Thanks for any help!!

Matt

the water is supposed to go past the exterior seal and then drain out the bottom. That is why you need the membrane to protect the inner cover. Do you have all your adjustment holes in the door with plugs?

plugs

all the plugs are in- it is the interior of the door that seems to be getting too much water in it- it all drains fine, but rather reduce/eliminate the water coming in to the interior in the first place. Seems the outer "wiper" seal next to the base of the window is not making firm enough contact. Looks like the rear window frame (inside the door) should be out further, but that would cause the window to bind, or at least not go up and down smoothly...
