Lifting a 3.2 off the stand

Is it safe to lift a 3.2 off the stand by putting a strap around the intake manifold or should I take it off the stand using the lifting hook and then install the manifold. I am just worried that something will break and the engine will end up on the ground.

No! Do not lift the engine by the intake manifold. It is 2 piece with a rubber coupler along with being thin-wall cast aluminum. Even if 1 piece, I doubt the intake could take the load and would break in pieces.

There's lift tabs to use.

So none of these ideas work for me but it made me think that I should use my two post lift to pick it up from the bottom with some 2x4's.

Thanks Dmitry!

I couldn't get it on the stand with the lifting hook because it was too steep of an angle (hook is in the back of the engine). I thought I would have the same issue getting it off the stand.

I used a chain hoist to lift my engine and place on an engine stand.
There is an eye lope at the rear of the engine (clutch side) and I used the mounting cross bar to hook up the front.
If you look at the front of the engine you will see two small C-clamps. I placed those there so the chain link would not slide from side to side while I was lifting the engine.
