What's that thing in my Smuggler's Box?

I have a 80SC.

I removed the back end of the air conditioning in the engine compartment and the center console with the blower and A/C controls. Now I want to remove the front-to-back plumbing and front condenser (evaporator?) and that thing in the wheel well.

I just noticed that there is some kind of blower in the Smuggler's box. Is that thing part of the A/C system? Can I remove that along with the rest of the crap?

Anything else I should know about venting and air plumbing and such so that I don't leave an open access?

Yes it is the blower to the AC. You might want to do a search on how to remove it. You will find it is a bit of work.

Yes, that is the evaporator/blower for the AC. You will likely have a hole cut into the firewall behind the floorboard on the passenger side as well. The blower will be ducted to the vents under and in the dash and there will be a hole for that as well. This component can be removed with all the other AC parts. Depending on what AC system you have--factory or aftermarket/dealer installation--the removal is pretty intuitive but the fit and finish of the installation varies. Work slowly and if you have questions, post them here along with any pictures of your problem.
