Wheels and spacers and flares conundrum

Hey all,

I am in the process of integrating '930' flares onto my '88 Carrera...

I bought wheel spacers to make up the gap in the wheel width, and I'm still coming up short. (thats NOT what she said)

I am using 9" Cup wheels, and also have some correct offset 9" phone dials, and the 2" spacer I bought is still too shallow. (I bought 2" because my thoughts were the 930 fenders are 11" vs. the Carrera 9"...thus 2")

Is there a different wheel/offset I need to move to? I dont recall the factory 930 having to have 10 or 11" wheels, and Fuchs fit fine on those cars. My 17"Cup wheels fit my oem wheel well exactly the same as my 16" Fuchs did.

Any insight? I am hesitant to put a 3" (studded) spacer out back...especially since I "track-day" this car, and dont want to break anything unnecessarily.

Thanks all,
Scott

Forget about comparing the wheels used on a true 930 to what you will need, a true 930 has additional o/s incorporated as part of the front hubs and rear trailing arms.

9" fronts and 11" rear will work fine, wider can also be fitted but are certainly not necessary.

the spacer width you need depends on the width and native o/s(ET) of the wheels you want to use.

I'm confused by this

I am using 9" Cup wheels
are these the ET55 9" wheels from a 964 or 993?

also by this

also have some correct offset 9" phone dials
AFAIK there were never any 9" Phone dials produced for Porsches.

Some clarification of the above would help.

Just for reference a typical 930 fender on SC/Carrera wheel set would look like this

9.0 ET 17mm rear of <89 911/front early turbo or sc widebody.

11 ET-8mm rear of widebody sc
