1969-1973 front turn signal overhaul and gaskets
Anyone have any idea where I can find the rubber gaskets that go between the turn signal housings and the fender? They fit on the edge of the turn signal housing.
Looked here on PP for them and cannot find them. Find loads of turn signal lens and the gasket that goes between the lens and light housing itself but no luck otherwise. Also am in the middle of overhauling the light assy itself. Have seen some threads on this in the past but the search engine did not turn up anything. This is for a 1969-1973 body style car. Thx, Joe

I'd call Pelican and ask for them, if they don't have them try ******** or order through your dealer.

Failing here, try International Merchantile.

Keen on seeing them Joe... don't have them on mine, and didn't realise there was a gasket there (I've got new ones between the housing and the lens).
Cheers

There is just one gasket per light box. It glues to the box, seals the box to the body and the lens to the box.
See pics below of front signal box. Rears work the same way. Joe ![]() ![]()

Joe,
That looks very purty! Course new parts always do. John, Inspect your used light housings well then I cleaned them up with steel wool and sandpaper. You could also bead blast them. Then spray painted the insides with shiny silver and the outsides with gray. Then put them in the oven for a while at 200 f to bake it on. They do not look as good as Joe's but they did not cost what his did either! ![]()

So did you find the gaskets Joeaksa? I apparently need them on the new housings I got from TRE though maybe they are in the box and I missed them. If you can't find them maybe contact Dave at TRE, i'm sure he must have a source.

I don’t think Joe Frantz’ turn signals are new parts.
He has been working on these and other parts of his ’73 coupe for almost a decade. I’m anxiously waiting to help my friend get it running. ![]() I’m intending to live that long ![]() Best, Grady

Found something interesting last night working on the car and wanted to share it.
Pulled the LH turn signal off of the car while wiring up the headlights. Turns out that I believe that there is no gasket between the signal signal assy and the body of the car! Evidently the gasket that is used on the signal assy doubles around to the back and is the gasket for both the lens on the front and the body on the back. Now the bear is that its glued to the turn signal body and thats going to be fun... but its getting chilly outside so a nice evenings project!

Here are the part numbers for the signal gaskets from Pelican.
911-631-970-01-M260 left front 911-631-970-00-M260 right front 911-631-971-01-M260 left rear 911-631-971-00-M260 right rear They offer both Porsche and OEM brands. The price difference is only a few bucks, and I highly recommend the Porsche brand. Post # 6 above shows one installed on a right front signal box. These are the only seals on the turn signals. They do glue on, but there is a good channel in the seal, and a flange on the box, so it's a pretty easy job. I used 3m super in a tube. As Grady said, the turnsignal shown above is original to my 73. It was in decent shape to begin with and cleaned up pretty well. It did need some wiring repair, so its a good idea to inspect the wiring while you're in there. They live in a pretty hostile environment. Another option for refinishing, if necessary, is silver/chrome powder coat. In the picture below, the silver coating on the box on the right was in pretty bad shape, while the one on the left just needed to be cleaned up. The box on the right was powder coated in silver/chrome. It's glossier than silver paint, but slightly darker in color. Once the lenses are on, the difference is not noticable. Joe ![]()

Gary,
Sorry I did not get back to you with this. Was swamped with work and the holidays. Just dug into the turn signal issue last night. The gasket that Joe (above) posted is for both the INNER and OUTER gasket. It glues on the rim of the turn signal housing and then laps over the front and back of the unit, working for both sides.
