Porsche Crest 3.2 Carrera Harness

I wiring harness question that I hope someone out there can help me with.

I have a 1987 3.2 Carrera ECU that I will be using on an EFI conversion project for my 1980 930. I know that Porsche lists two part number for the 3.2 Carreres, one for the 1985-86 and another for the 1987-89.

Here is the question: Can the wiring harness from a 85-86 car be used on a 87-89 ECU?

Can someone out there point me in the right direction please.

Thank you.

There are no electrical differences or connector differences between the two for all sensors and actuators and you should be able to use either for your project. The DMEs are pin-compatible for all 3.2

The only difference that I can think off could be for the connection of the region plug and the altitude box. But you won't need either for your EFI conversion so don't worry about it.

Also the older might have simply been superseded by the other due to changes in the supplier.

Thank you Ingo.

This is very good information. I am checking off potential starting issues and this wiring harness answer knocks one from my list.

By the way, I am working on the Cottage Hospital expansion here in Santa Barbara. I would certainly like to meet you and discuss my EFI project. Are you involved with the Zone 8 PCA?

My office is directly across the street from Schneiders ********.

Thanks again,

The difference in the 2 numbers will be the length of the back up lights wiring.
