Stupid, quick, transmission question
My 901 grinds into most gears. I just changed all the shifter bushings, and installed a new clutch and clutch cable.
I suspect my clutch needs adjustment, the grinding is worse than it's been in the past, so I'm betting on clutch not fully disengaging. The question is: if my clutch is not fully disengaging, do I need to tighten it or loosen it? Thanks! Dan |

You need to shorten the cable.

You should have about 1" of free-play at the top of the pedal. If you have more than that you must tighten the cable to reduce the free movement. Once free play is set you must adjust the pedal stop so that the pedal has sufficient travel to fully disengage the clutch.

I have about 1", but I have a new floorboard out of a 80 something 911. The floorboard doesn't fit in the top supports, so that may be preventing the pedal from going all the way down. I may have to break out a saw to make it fit right.
