Coffee Table

Just what your wife would wish for. I have been working on this for over a year, off and on. I just completed the two end plates.. They started out as two 46 pound aluminum plates and after 35 hours of machine time less than 9 pounds each. The glass will sit on the carb stacks. It will have all parts except a shroud, even a aluminum fly wheel

Hmmm... Just wondering...! Are you going to install a Steve Wong chip?

Very good.

I would add a few touches:

Remove #2 & #3 cylinders and expose the pistons in operation. (Need crankshaft and connecting rods).

Add clear valve covers and chain covers to expose the machinery.

Has anyone done this with articulated (moving) pieces?

Best,
Grady

Motor is hollow. I cut the end off a old crank shaft to mount the fly wheel. It's going in my den which is on the second floor. I was trying to keep the weight down. The idea of a cutaway is very interesting and I wanted the motor to be stock so I left the Steve Wong Chip off.

Hi Banker, Any idea on the weight of this beast? Pretty cool idea actually-seems like a good way to store parts in plain sight! Looking forward to the finished product...

Very nice work, it looks great.

One note - The 1-2-3 cylinder Zenith carb is backwards!

One question - does it leak oil on the floor like the one in my car? If not, I'm not sure it is authentic!

Question

Technical question: will the table be on carpet, hardwood, or tile?
This will dictate the type of pad under the "stands" or even if more pad width will be needed so you don't damage your florring.
Do you have an idea of the total weight, including glass top?
