Body shop recommendation in So Cal

Anyone knows of a decent body shop (on the cheap side) in the west San Fernando Valley or Ventura county by chance they can recommend?

Thanks!

Give Kevin a call at Automotive Innovations and Restorations in Van Nuys. He may have retired, but if he's still in business you won't do better. Great guy. Knows Porsches. He's KevinP73 here on the board!

Here's his website: www.autoinno.com

Are you looking for a Porsche specialist?

I had some body work done on my Miata by Folks Auto Body in Reseda on Reseda Blvd. near Vanowen. They're not Porsche specialists, but they did a great job on the Miata.

Thanks for the tip Ron, I can talk to them and see what they say. I used to live in Tarzana for a while..

Another vote for Kevin at Auto Inno. He has not retired- he has grown the business. He always does great work on my car.

I've read only good things about Kevin but I think his (great) work might be overkill for what I'm looking for. Basically picked up a 996 from a friend of mine for dirt cheap that's been lightly hit in the front left side, I need someone to straighten it a little and paint the hood, fender and bumper without spending a fortune. But I guess I can always ask him the question. So far I have bids for $800, $2500 and $4k! Thanks everyone for the feedback much appreciated.

It's good to hear that Kevin didn't retire.

That said, give him a call and take the car by the shop. He's a good guy and if you tell him what your needs are, maybe he can work with your budget. It doesn't hurt to ask. The worst that can happen is that you take the car elsewhere.

Just talked to Kevin, sounds like a good guy. Will be taking videos and pics of the car (so I don't have to tow it there) and will go see him tomorrow, he said he will give me an estimate. Thanks everyone, let me know if you can think of any other shops just in case Kevin is out of my price range.

I dont think Kevin will be out of your price range. My budget for Porsche stuff is probably smaller than 95% of the people here on Pelican But Kevin has done a lot of work for me over the years ! And it wasnt shody, cut rate work either. Kevin is a great guy.

Be careful of low ball estimates from some of the other shops out there.

Kevin's very reasonable and does any size job - plus he's a Porsche specialist. I've used him for a number of mods and minor restoration issues on my '87 and the work is always first rate.

I was going to recommend Kevin, but looks like everyone already has.

Let us know if you need more recs, as there are a couple other non-Porsche places in the Valley that I've used or have had friends use.

Yes, kundensport is another shop that does great work. Maybe closer to where you are, as they're at the bottom of the hill in Camarillo. Though I didn't realize the word "budget" was within their vocabulary. How's that 917 coming along?
