Aftermarket exhausts with street and sport modes

Is there anyone else out there that would pay extra for an exhaust that could be switched 'on the fly'

I have an M&K dual in/out after SSIs, on an 87 911 coupe.

I use a plug on one side when not at the track and make it single outlet. The pipes can detach on either side of the muffler. I am pretty happy with it.

On the street, duals draw attention when i dont necessarily want it, plus it wears you out on a ride home.

I have a VW R32 with a clever dual exhaust from the factory, it has a vacuum activated flapper that 'opens' the exhaust at certain rpms. You can pinch the vacuum tube to leave it open , others have rigged up an in car switch for quiet to loud mode. I really like the setup, for the sound and the flexibility

So lets say at standard dual out/in muffler for the 911 is $1000, i pretty much would pay an extra $400 for that feature.

Am I the only one that would pay , or would you pay more or less? Any reason why someone isn't doing this from a manufacturer point of view? Licensing or patents? ben...?

It sounds like a cool idea but I could use that projected $1400(?) to make my car faster/lighter/better looking.

That $1400 price tag is pretty accurate, if not on the low side, and the reason not many would sell. I've done a lot or research on active exhaust systems and would love to build one for the 911. The dirt cheap Asian market coupled with this bad economy would make it difficult to justify and a long return on investment. DIY guys can just bolt on an electric valve to the passenger's side tailpipe.
