about the carpet trim

As it happens, I much prefer black, as to my eye it forms a cleaner/ less noticeable look.

Am I looking at this correctly, Wayne wants 3 bucks per screw, and for a Carrera there are 10 required to do both sides or 30 bucks just for the screws?

Ya, I don't know why that is, but screws are screws, the difference between SAE and Metric isn't that much. I just painted my own oval head philips screws with satin black.

BTW: just take a punch/awl into a piece of cardboard and push the screws into the cardboard for painting.

I bought both the black metal moldings as well as the rubber thresholds from Pelican, less the screws. Both were good quality products. The rubber thresholds have their own adhesive back so you want to be sure they only go down once. Then the black anodized aluminum moldings go down over the threshold.

You might consider at the same time replacing the door rubber gaskets. There not too pricey and really make a big difference in the wind noise if yours are long in the tooth. Mine installed easy with a minimum of adhesive just in the corners. The door gaskets fit both left and right doors.

I did the whole shebang: door seals, rubber strip, and metal entry sills.

I first laid the rubber threshold down on the sill (after removing any previous glue) for the best fit, then outline the edges with masking tape. Then peeled back the tape to reveal the adhesive so you can locate the new rubber threshold on the sill for the final fit.

When you install your molding just start each screw until you have them all started before running them down tight, not too tight, it's easy to strip them out... All of the holes should line up. If you have an ice pick or an awl it helps locating the holes through your carpet.

You'll be happy with the improvements since it's the first thing you see when you open your doors. Plus you'll be surprised on how much less wind noise you'll have...

Thanks for all the input, it sounds like a plan, I want to do the carpet at the same time. Fortunately, since it is a Cab, I am not going to go down the path of chipping out all the tar, and replacing with second skin, since noise is one of the things I have accepted considering I don't drive the car if the top has to go up (unless an emergency).

New threshold and rubber would be a very nice touch, and something I didn't think about!

Looks like wayne gets more clams off of me....
