cdi to msd

Hi Guys and Gals,
I could use some help on what components/wiring I can get rid of/remove during my conversion to msd from cdi.
I have a 1970 Targa with 2.4 L webber carburated engine. The panel in the engine bay is my major area of concern as the PO jury rigged everything from the looks of the wiring harness. removed cdi, tack unit. Kept the voltage reg, relays for heated rear glass and all pin connections and 3 fuse box, 2 round condensers.
If any one has either a before and after pics or diagram of their conversion it would be greatly appreciated.
Frank

the MSD comes with its own wiring harness. i just put spade connectors on my MSD and used the switched power and the points trigger off the original connector.( the one that plugged into the CD unit) and i ran the MSD output wire to the coil and the ground wire to the coil.
i did this so i could connect the original unit back in if the MSD ever failed.

so it is up to you what goes, which is really jsut the wiring to the dizzy and coil.

Frank,

I had good luck on my SC using the spade connector method that T77 describes. No cutting into the wiring harness needed, assuming your PO's hacking didn't mess with the CD box's harness wiring or plug. As far as what goes away when you convert, you basically replace the original coil and CD box with an MSD coil and box.

Post 8 in this thread also describes the use of spade connectors:

I think Fred's idea of using the engine fuse block as the source of the main 12V feed is cleaner/easier than using the starter terminal.
