Question Door rubber seal

I would like to replace the rubber door seal that is attached to the car (not to the door) on my 1986 coupe. Has anyone done this? How is it held in place?
Thanks

Its just pressed in, supported by adhesive.
Use a wheatherstrip-adhesive like 3M and glue the new one into place.
There should be a new stuff on the marked which is clear-colored, but I have not been able to get it.

Hello

The rubber profile is glued in.
You only have to remove the protector on the sill and place the ventholes showing outside to the car body.

It is a bit a pain especially for beginners.
The better the old channel is cleand the faster it goes on and the better it looks later.

Most icky corners are the rear upper abd the forward lower. there you can see how good the craftsmen worked .

Now on the targa you heve to make sure you run up correct in hight, they must be a that longer to be pressd into the pillar rubber

I just picked up a new door seal for my 73 and noticed that the inner most edge where it fits against the channel has a felt strip of some sort. What's it there for? Improved sealing or wind noise, I can't tell...

I've never seen the felt strip. A word to the wise, though: get a dropcloth, or some Hefty bags, or something, and cover all the upholstery and carpet in the vicinity of where you're working. The seal is like a big snake when you're working with it, and it's half-covered with adhesive. Very easy to start leaving spots all over.

Jack, visions of Marlin Perkins come to mind.
