Chrome Fuch Wheels

Anyone know where I can get my Fuch wheels chromed in the Phoenix area?

DON"T DO IT!

Do a search on the subject, there is loads discussed about the for and against. In short chroming has the potential to ruin your magnesium (fuchs) rims.

Fishcop's right, although the wheels aren't strictly magnesium (I think they're an alloy consisting mostly of aluminum? Someone will correct me, I hope.)

But Bob, polished Fuchs look like they're chromed, to most casual observers. You've probably seen this on Porsches and assumed you were looking at chrome.

Chroming can be done, but it decreases the metallurgical integrity and the value of the wheels.

Polished:

And it would increase the weight of your wheels! Not good!

Get them polished.

Mine are polished with black insets. Pictures aren't that good. But you can see they almost looke chromed.

I had a set of chromed Fuchs on a SC I had around 10 years ago.

I hated them (because I think chrome wheels are for people like in this article:

http://www.accessatlanta.com/ajc/epaper/editions/friday/wheels_c3a5d059e1a580a900d1.html

but that's just my opinion),

and, also, ONE OF THEM CRACKED. Right along one of the "spokes." At first I thought it was just the chrome cracking, but upon closer examination it was definately going all the way through the wheel.

This was on factory Fuchs, 6s and 7s.

Gave me a good excuse to dump them and get a set of 7s and 8s.

Not that you need another opinion, but these guys are 100% right... have them polished. Never-Dull works great to keep them shiney!

This might help as far as the process:

You might want to contact Beck's on Cave Creek Road for a reference. 602 997 6572.
