Removing windshield trim without damaging Al trim?

I'm going to replace my very cracked and bad condition SC's windshield trim. I've read all posts that fully cover the installation part....but how do I cut the old trim prior to removal so I dont damage the aluminum trim piece when I push out the window...pics? Thanks

Use a razor and cut at a 45^ angle along both sides of the trim piece. That will allow the trim piece to lift right up without exerting any force on it. If it does bend a little bit, reform it using the bare windshield as a template.

Pretty easy job.

Have fun!

The trim can be bent a whole lot before it is ruined. There is more risk of scraping the finish on the strips with the razor than bending it beyond repair.

I never tried this but there may be a benefit to warming (softening) up the seal with a hair dryer, heat gun or warm water before cutting to improve your control.

The windshield seal is one of the easiest "big" jobs to do on a 911. Have a pal help on the install.
