Case spliting any ideas
Anybody out there know of a good way to split a 2.7 case. Just as I expected that after all the bolts and nuts were removed she still held firmly together. I used a rubber mallet but she still stayed together. I know VW makes a tool for case spliting but I was hoping for some secret trick that makes it easy.

Double check that all the bots are out.
There are a couple of tricky hidden ones.

Including some behind the flywheel... That was a frustrating lesson to learn. No wonder Bentley recommends removing the flywheel first...

Thanks to those who replied. I got her loose by making a little case splitting device using the sump plate access.
