| Registered | Weber carb question
Well I finally removed the CIS injection system and replced it with Weber 40 IDAs. Thanks for everyone that helped me tune these carbs. I found out that the key is having the optimum float level setting. Now, Ive got some minor questions that some of you might be able to answer. 1) I have F26 Emulsion tubes installed in the carbs and I believe theyre supposed to have F3 e-tubes. Will I notice anything significant by switching to F3s? The e-tube was the only thing I overlooked when I purchased the conversion jets for 2.7s. 2) Do the watershield covers actually restrict the fresh air going to the carbs? Ive got watershields installed now and am thinking of replacing those with regular K&N tops during summer and using watershields during winter or rainy months. 3) With regards to the Facet fuel filters, do these usually give warning signs before they go bad, or is failure sudden with no warning signs? Just want to know if I should buy a new one since Im using an older one, but is working just fine. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

1. The emulsion tubes should match the camshaft. You didn't say which you are using. The F3 is for E or Solex cams. My guess is that you have the stock CIS cams still in there. In that case the F26 is more suitable. 2. The watershiled filters are definitely NOT restrictive. This is evidenced by the enormous amount of racket they make. I prefer the stock air cleaner that came on the Weber and Zenith equipped cars from the factory. (Same as MFI) 3. I have no idea about these filters. ------------------ Tyson Schmidt 72 911 Cabriolet 92 C-2 Cabriolet
