cruise in-op

Do the G50 cars have a cruise control switch on the clutch, or is that controlled by the module?

The cruise control on my '88 stopped working. It won't set. I looked to see if I left any wires disconnected when I rebuilt the pedal cluster. I couldn't find a switch or wires. Oh, I also swapped out the applicable fuse and relay to no avail.

Check to insure the vacuum hoses in the engine bay at the Cruise Control module ( Barrel Thing) did not pop loose or cracked/leaking. Most likely hose popped off some how.

My 915 has a switch at the clutch pedal. Check the switch at the clevis pin on the cable end.

Sounds like yours might have one, and the switch is stuck closed.

The Bentley manual has a great cruise control troubleshooting procedure. The clutch switch is inside the tunnel near the throttle pedal and may have been disturbed during the removal/replacement of the pedal cluster. You may need to adjust its position so that it closes fully when the clutch pedal is at the top of its travel.

My 87 has a switch on the pedal, very hard to get to inside the console tunnel. Try lightly tapping your clutch pedal on the side while at the same time trying to activate the cruise...took me a while to figure out what was causing mine not to work...Just bumping/shaking the clutch pedal would make it activate...still need to fix mine but know where the problem resides and at the moment know how to live with it.

Does the switch mount to the side of the tunnel, or the floor inside the tunnel?

Thanks all, I finally found the switch. Looking past the gas pedal and toe board I can *just* see it. And I can see it's not contacting the little foot on the end of the clutch pedal shaft.

..Now the trick will be getting to it.

I got the switch adjusted tonight. Well, not so much the switch as the arm on the switch. I obviously bent the snot out of the arm putting the pedals back in. A moment of zen like clairity lead to the realization that you access the switch from above. Sure enough, lifting the carpet in front of the console exposed an opening. And within it was the switch.

Now I just need to a chance to test it out.
