replacing tow hook without removing torsion bar?

I have a very bent tow hook on my '79 SC . I was thinking of supporting the A Arm, removing the tow hook and replacing it, but am not sure this is safe with the torsion bar installed. Has anyone tried this? Thanks.

Trent

It is pretty soft metal. Just hammer it back out straight. Not like you won't bend it back down next time you go over a speed bump.

You might prefer something like these, they just unbolt, the bars are not a concern. These are from mid 80s Carrera and for sale

You can unbolt the front covers/tow hooks without causing any issues with the torsion bars...as long as the car is up in the air.

I think I once used a large adjustable wrench. I closed the wrench down on to the bent part of the tow hook and just pulled it back into place. It wasn't difficult.
