Steering Wheel

I would like to replace my worn-out stock steering wheel with a sportier wheel. I like the AJR 930 wheel, but I don't like the gold crest on it. Does anyone know whether a similar wheel with a simple Porsche logo (unpainted, like stock) embossed on the center is available?

Thanks,

Lew

Porsche Crest

I could be wrong, but I think AJR sells the 930S wheels with a blank horn pad, and offers the crests separately. Give them a call to confirm: 800-877-1911. Otherwise, I think Ruf markets a similar (identical?) 930S type wheel with their (no-color) logo embossed in the horn pad.

Lewis, I have seen just what your asking about. And, I want one!
I dug around and found, the steering wheel we are looking for is the European 968 CS (Club Sport) wheel. The only difference between this wheel and the one used on the 930 is the P-crest on the horn pad.
The 930S wheel has a gold crest, and the CS wheel has an embossed crest. I want the embossed crest.
The wheel part number is 968-347-084-00.
Now. . . where to get one, and how much.

You can get the 930S for a better price at Pelican, and put any emblem on the center that you want. See the 'group buy' thread.

Jack, the embossed crest is *in* the horn pad as part of the horn pad.
Here is a pic of a well used one. Note it also has the leather as one piece as it goes onto the spoke. . .the aftermarket 930S wheels have seperate patches of leather glued in (as you know)
I don't like the glue lines, esp. at $400.

Smile found it

I knew someone had posted the subtle differences.

I've got to give GeorgeK credit for first pointing out the differences between the 930S, the 968CS, and the aftermarket wheels. . . in an earlier thread.

I have to agree with island, it would be nice to have the real one piece wheel without the glue lines. But you ain't getting it for the price of the AJ wheel or the deal Wayne is polling about. Unless you are really lucky. When I got my wheel from AJ about 4 year ago someone on Rennlist PM'd me about a lead on the real thing out of UK for ~$8-$900. I settled for the replica, couldn't justify the difference in price.

The wheel that we are going to be selling will have nothing embossed on the horn pad. It's probably going to be about $265 for the wheel without the crest, and $289 or so with the wheel and additional crest (that you place on the wheel).

Looks like we may be offering silver mini crests as well. I'm checking to see if they are available...

With all of this talk about new wheels, I was wondering if anyone had a dark blue 4 spoke wheel (to fit an '88) in perfect condition that they would want to remove from their car and sell to me so that they could make room for a fancy new wheel?

How to apply the mini crest with the nub

How do I apply this correctly to the blank 930S horn pad?

Thanks
John

Question, I currently have a MOMO Wheel on my car I do not like, and I am thinking about going with the 930S Wheels with the Gold logo. Question is, do I have to change the Hub? or Can I attach it right to the MOMO hub that is already installed?

Thanks!
