where do I start dropping weight on this thing

The fuel safe install was actually really straighforward.

THis is the Porsche special unit, 27 gallon Enduro cell.

Mounting locations are at the factory mounting points. The fuel lines are actually underneath and go through the fiberglass pan that comes with the kit. THe aeroquip fitting you see at the top is actually the vent, which leads to the drivers side wheel well.

Whole thing including tank removal, cleaning the old foam out, and install of the cell and fuel pump took about 5 hours... WIth beer and (far away) smoke breaks.

Chris-- thanks for the information re: fuel cell install. I've got an ATL 17 gallon 911-specific cell on order and everything I've heard is that it's very straightforward. The only thing I don't have is a case of Beck's dark . . .yet.

Re: Driving with spare, I agree, most 911 owners wouldn't roll around the city with worn tires-- the reason I carry one is for road hazards around here. Which I didn't used to believe could happen to me, until this summer when I managed to get TWO flat tires- on two separate occasions- one from a roofing nail, one from a horseshoe nail (!)- through the center of my A032Rs. In both cases I jacked up the car and pulled out a tire plug kit ($5), pulled the nail with the toolkit pliers (gotta love those), roughened the hole with the file from the kit and installed a plug, and then continued to compete (both punctures were obtained ON our autocross course). So didn't need the spare, but it made me a believer-- although it would look pretty funny to see me driving along with the inflatable spare opposite 245 series tires-- kind of like a three-legged dog. . .
