SWB brakes.... stupid idea ??

I am building a 68 SWB 911 from an 912 tub that I bought minus driveline. I am trying to decide what route to go with the rear brakes. I have parts from both a 72 and a 73 parts car including front S calipers which I will be using. What is the best and most reasonable option for the rears?

1. Is the adapter piece I have seen on old posts still available? Could I use the 72 set up with an adapter ?
2. Will the original (912) calipers with spacers and 944 rotors match the front S's?
3. Stupid idea. Has anyone shortened the radius arms from a later car and gone that route? Then you would not need adapters to go with the 72 set up.

I haven't seen any write ups on #3 so I assume there may be a good reason it is not practicle. Is there a standard route to go?

Thanks, Greg

I suggest asking here: Early 911S Registry

The steel banana arms can be cut and rewelded, but most people just modify SWB arms to accept a different caliper and a vented disc.

I am in the same boat, this is what i know of as options:
the adaptors i have not seen in awhile, not sure you can find those.
there was someone on early S selling an alternative caliper that uses the 944 rotor.
the non-vented rear calipers had a smaller diameter piston than the vented S calipers so the bias would be off a little if you upgrade just the fronts.
TRE does make an adaptor for swb to use boxster calipers and 944 rotors.
shortening the lwb arms would be a lot of work, i have not seen anyone try it.
the stock rear non-vented brakes are not too bad - many racers use the stock solid rotors and just use better pads and fluid.

i haven't decided what i'm going to do, i might try and make an adaptor so i can use wilwood calipers.
