Automatic Antenna - sure looks vulnerable
Does this look normal for the setup of an automatic antenna? In my paperwork I see that the PO replaced it recently. But this environment, with water and crud thrown off the right front wheel, looks like it would lead to a very rapid death of the antenna mechanism. There's even one of those flimsy fuse holders exposed to the elements. Did the factory make some kind of shield perhaps to better protect the wiring and motor mechanism? If not, has anyone tried protecting it somehow? I can certainly apply a bunch of electrical tape and wire ties, but I am wondering if something better exists out there.

Yes, that's where it goes. Just hope it doesn't get too yucky and muddy, but then we don't drive these cars in the mud very much, right?
But I think that fused link should be taped up, or moved inside the front trunk.

i don't have a power anrenna so i don't know what the deal is with the fuse being necessary under there
if mine i'd solder in a marine fuse holder and use marine shrink wrap on the soldered connections i'd also use dielectric grease on the fuse and holder internals what's installed now is a problem waiting to happen imho
