Release fork - replace?
Running over budget (how can that happen!) but how important is it to replace the release fork on my 70SC? I'm swapping out a bad sycro'ed tranny for a spare. If the spare is good it might stay a few years as I have not put too many miles on annually but if better to drive with the spare that might change.
Goal is to rebuild and reimstall the original but right now I don't know if it will be at a leasure or panic pace. With all the other preventative maintenance going on is a 130.00 saved worth it? Thanks for any input. Terry |

some crack, some don't. more likely on an old clutch with a thin disc, because they are harder to pull.

I'd replace - fairly cheap insurance. The fork (which was broken when I disassembled my 75) design appears to be a little light to me.

I guess the right way is to replace it.
JJ I've been following your thread - funny but you are right JW your track record speaks for it self I'd rather learn from wisdom than being dum fanaudical - Insurace is the second highest expense in my life so why crap shoot on my time/labor. Thanks guys just trying to talk myself into saving somewhere. Exterior non criticle bolt ons are a better savings gamble. Terry |

Glad you see the humor in this. My adventure started last year with, I'll get the lift and save a lot of money... I'll drop the engine to clean, stop all leaks and do the valve Adjustment job that should be rather cheap!!! Might as well put some SSIs and a MK muffler since the other one are working perfectly... Lets put a Short Shift Kit so I get a better 0-60 time... Well a Super Clutch would complete the job... Why spend money re-facing the flywheel... I hope it will be over soon, I'm already in the 2012/13 budget :D:eek::confused::):eek::D |
Yes, replace. when I had a new clutch and flyweel installed, the mech. taliked me out of replacing the fork and within a couple mounths it broke. the clutch and flywheel had to be replaced again.
It's real cheap insurance. Gary |
