Porsche smell
My 85 911 runs cool. Everything is fine when I am on a drive. But I notice a hot smell when it is all warmed up or after a drive. It smells hot. I know these cars are air cooled and may run a bit hotter than a regular ordinary car. Car does not leak, but maybe a seep on hot metal will smell? Maybe it smells like a Porsche! Nick

LOL, "Hot Smell", is it metalic, oil, rubber, wood (i hope not), where is it coming from?

All of the above. But you are right, when I go into my garage late at night there is the smell of oil, gas and leather! In other words...the smell of an old sportscar! I remember when I was a kid my Brother brought home an Austen Healy 100-4. It had the same smell when you went into the garage. After driving my car it just has a hot smell. Like it has been driven. I love my car.

That is the smell that drives my wife nuts. When we first got the car, 82sc, she thought we were getting a "luxury" car, ie. BMW. Little did she know we got a souped up go cart.
Hot oil, fuel....aaah.

My 5 year old daughter every time the garage is open she says "Daddy, can I smell the Porsche?" She walks into the garage, deep breath, "Ahh I love that smell"

My wife can always smell when I've been in my other love. She gives me the eye and asks if I've "been with that other girl again".... I confess, it's so hard to get away with driving her without my wife knowing....
