1967 transmission support mounts

Hi Guys,

A friend is rebuilding his 67 911. If the rubber mounts in the support bar are "toast" is the ONLY solution replacement ($700)? or is there an alternative.
I've only ever owned 72s and 73s so the "easy" and cheaper solution with these years is not an option.

Your advice appreciated,
