Pacific N.West SCWDP members.....
.....would you come to a gathering in the Vancouver, BC area this summer??
I'm thinking of organizing the First Annual SCWDP Rainforest Region Round-up. How about a loosely guided tour of some incredible BC backroads (that only a motorcyclist would know), a picnic in a scenic spot, and possibly a light-duty show & shine with some small, but useful prizes. Comments? Suggestions?

"II6" . . .I get it . .. Although I would have figured one of the Auzzie guys would have taken that.
![]() Doug, these "small, but useful prizes" wouldn't be silver and black on white would they? . . .kinda sticky i suggest there be a prize catagory for best Platinum Metalic SC ![]() Sounds very cool. I say us PugetPond guys have a prefuction scoot up Chuckanut Drive ~~~~~~~~~ |

No, island, stickers as prizes is not what I had in mind.
![]() (I was thinking more along the lines of a gallon of Swepco or a 6-pack of filters, that sort of thing, something your fancy-pants Platinum SC can use.)

II6...yeah not very original, but it WAS getting late.
I'm not sure my old SC will be up to snuff for the show & shine -unless you give points for mileage...160K+ and runnin' strong. |

Doug, is this going to be an exclusive SCWDP event or are other beer swillers welcome?

BC's breathtaking beauty is enough of a draw all by itself. Add to that some excellent camaraderie with nice, gentle extroverts. Combine with some examples of automotive engineering masterpieces, and top it off with fabulous prizes.
Hmmmm, tough decision. Oh, and the duty free shopping. Cuban cigars. Okay, I guess I'll go. Just give me time to put a couple of things back on my car. Like the engine for example, and the drivers' door.

Can you fit a 77S into the festivities? I'm in Mt Vernon and Chuckanut Drive is the way to go.

You know I'm in Doug.
...and what about that crack about a fat man in a Minerva Blue SC? Hey, it's been tough for me to get any exercise what with the new addition to the family and all.... ![]()

I'm definately in if I think my car is reliable enough at the time to make it.
SCs will be honored... all others will be welcomed. ![]() ...just so we can attempt and converting you nonSC owners before more drastic measures are nessecary. ![]()

I would recommend a meeting at the Holiday Inn rotating restaurant (perhaps for the awards) and a ride on the air cushion ferry ... just for entertainment purposes! That ferry is so smooth, you would think there's a real big flat-six powering it!

Sounds like a blast! Count me if I'm around. I'll be doing the Gumbo Rally (Seattle to Mississippi and back around the fourth of July weekend - anyone in for that?)

For sure! We honeymooned in Vancouver on the CART weekend in September.
It would be great to get up there to see the car show at the Gardens. That is fantastic. And the Abbotsford (sp?) airshow -- wow! This is one the wife can get behind, so I'll be bringing the family! John

Short drive for me, I might have to make it longer by heading south to Chuckanut first.
If there is interest I might coordinate a golf tourney before hand at Semiahmoo or Loomis Trails for the Pelican head duffers. If its a slow weekend for the hotel I can help with some low room rates for those needing lodging. Doug, you have any dates in mind yet?

OK...there seems to be *some* interest in this. Thank's for your replies.
I think to make it a *real event* (rather than just a get-to-gether) we would need at least 25-30 cars. I will keep this bumping around the BBS for a few more days to see if we can squeeze out a few more participants. Date? I was thinking a July weekend, as long as it won't interfere with John Walker's Swapmeet (a terrific event in itself). Venues I had in mind include, The Harrison Hot Springs Resort and the Howe Sound Inn (Squamish, BC). All easy driving for our USA SCWDP brothers and sisters. More ideas and suggestions welcomed.

That sounds like a great idea Doug! I would love to tag along. That is, if you can assure me safe passage, and grant me immunity for being a 3.2L owner.

We'd love to have you, Eric. Of course, you might find yourself inundated with SCWDP propaganda......Muhahahahahah!
Stay tuned; this might just come together. The more interest I see, the harder I'll get working on it.

Island- LOL! Good thinking, but what are we going to do about the unsightly "Carrera" Tail? |
