Right Footwell Blower hoses,1985 euro carrera cab

Blower works great but PO removed hoses and I am trying to get them connected again.

Looking at illustration 813-02 in the PET, I am missing the "Y" connector (#18).

Once I get the connector, it is not clear to me where the two hoses go.
I think one of them (20,22 or 24 in the illustration) goes to the small vent at the far right of the dash. (Why three different diagrams?)

Where does the other one go? Maybe to the center console plenum or maybe to a tube just over the blower that goes to the trunk...picture of the trunk side below.

If it goes to the trunk tube, where does it go from there? And if it goes to the center plenum, what goes to the tube that goes to the trunk?

Any help or pictures?

there are 2 different set-ups, for with and w/o a/c. the without a/c is much simpler. do you have a/c?

Which Vent/s are you trying to make work?

If up front passenger side, then the hoses may not be available especially the Y connector. I used a Copper T Pipe and some vacumm hose.

I suppose you can build a Y connetor out of PVC & Glue

I have the same hole in the trunk that is not connected to anything. I may be wrong but I think it is just an access hole for wiring and stuff. or maybe a breather or some sort.

I think that openning in the bulkhead is the fresh air feed to the side vents if you do not have air conditioning.

On my car, the side heater vents are fed directly by the small outlets on the footwell blower motors. I don't think they go into the trunk. The large outlets on the blowers are what go into the dash and get switched between the footwell and windscreen outlets.
I do have A/C, if it makes a difference.

In the days before the footwell blowers all of the plumbing for the heat /fresh air and A/C took place in the trunk. Various models had an array of manifold fittings that directed that air. On my 78 the center vent and the side vents were tied diectly to the A/C, hence no fresh air thru those. On a non-A/C car, those same vents allowed fresh air and/or heated air. The heated air thru the side vents came off of a fitting on the air distributor and was connected via hose to that fitting in the bulk head and then to the side vent fitting under the dash.
I'll see if I can find a picture.

Draco, thanks for the help...got the right side footwell blower all back together and working.

I think I will just plug that tube to the trunk, since nothing is connected to either side.

It would be a good way to get wires from the trunk though.

Thumbs up

BTW, returned from ACE and found a thin PVC Diverter Drain pipe that works pretty well in place of the NLA OEM "Y" connector and much better than the "T" pipe I had on.

The problem with the T pipe is because of the 90 degree angle, I would get back flow of hot air from the foot blowers to the upper center vents. I also assume A/C loss down the foot blower as well.

With the diverter pipe it is properly angled and even segregated to allow most if not all of the air to flow one way.

The diameter of the pipe is pretty tight to the OEM hoses but it can be squeezed on without too much difficulty. Little bit of black duck tape, clamped down and it is not so obvious.

Jim
