Any way to Feness a 915 trans on
the last 2 inches. New clutch everthing lubed, and splines all line up. Or is this just a muscle job.

what did you use to center the splines to the pilot bearing? a real mainshaft works the best. the plastic tools suck.

It's definitely NOT a muscle job. Take it back out and measure the tip of the input shaft. make sure it isn't mushroomed at the tip. (The part that fits into the pilot bearing.)
Also, you *are* making sure the clutch fork is engaging between the release bearing groove as you are sliding the trans on, aren't you? You may try engaging a gear and turning one output flange while holding the other to get the splines on the input shaft lined up properly in the clutch disc.

Thanks, I will check everything in the AM. I did use a metal alignment tool which seated in the throw out bearing.
