Spent all of Saturday at the Seattle Historic races. With excellent weather and a huge array of cars, it was an enthusiasts dream. Lot's and lot's of Porsche activity, including some very fast 356's and 911's.
Congratulations to British Columbia's own Greg Campbell on his last row start to first place win in his lightning quick 356 coupe. He beat a whole bunch of fast 356 pilots, including the formidable Rod Emory team. ------------------ '81 SC Coupe (aka: "Blue Bomber") Canada West Region PCA The Blue Bomber's Website |

Sunday wasn't so bad either.
. . .what a nice platinum metalic SC; heh heh. Parade Lap time. I was behind the one guy who likely didn't care if he stayed on the track. . . .I know those rally cars need to BEEF-UP their components, but sheese, that antenna arial with the "76 Ball" is a bit much. We got to wait with Ausin Powers apparently. Groovey Baby, Yeah! (upper right, XKE) '81 Platinum Metalic SC COUPE |

Great weekend - Congratulations to Gary Emory of Parts Obsolete and his band of race prepped 356s, incuding Mike Reischel (an R Gruppe member). Congratulations also to Dean Watts/ ex Walt Maas who won medium bore in his early 911S!
The R Gruppe was well represented with Randy Jones, Ron Harris, Eric Linden, Brad Anderson, Loren Marovelli, Revis Rose and myself bringing our "sports purpose" early 911s to the car corral. Beautiful weather, beautiful cars and beautiful (well, you know). Randy Wells '72 911T (w/ 3.2L Motec) [This message has been edited by Randy W (edited 07-08-2001).] |

Here is a pic of the R Gruppe Corral on Saturday, great time was had by all and the weather was maybe just a touch to hot for this beach guy but better than "RAIN".
Randy Jones 1971 911 ![]() BTW- island911 we saw your car but didn't put two and two together. Guess we didn't realize you were a PCA'er. And "Blue Bomber" why didn't you stop and sat "Hi" too. |

Sorry Randy, we did drop by a couple of times, but most of you guys must have been at the hot dog stand
![]() Had a good look at all the Gruppe cars...Very nice turn out! The B Bomber loved the trip, but now I'm lusting for a 356 race car! Trying to talk myself into going to Portland next weekend. ------------------ '81 SC Coupe (aka: "Blue Bomber") Canada West Region PCA The Blue Bomber's Website |

I may just have to take my ‘Yugo’ to Portland next weekend. So who else is planning on going? . . and is Saturday better than Sunday for 911 turnout? It appears the R-Gruppe got to have all the fun: Nice Blues: |

Gee, I even reconize me in the straw hat, black tee shirt and shades.
As far as I know there will be one more car Saturday than Sunday in the R Gruppe Corral, and that will be pwd72s. I would come on Saturday just to see his car alone. She is a sweet little girl still un-ruffled, if you get my drift. Randy Jones 1971 911 |

Pac West members,
It was good to see a nice showing of R Gruppe cars at SIR. Pac West Chapter of R Gruppe is growing and growing fast with over 26 members todate and counting. Lets see if we can get more of them to come out for the next one at PIR. Comeon fellas, get out there and drive those cars. Kick tires with your fellow early 911 car guys and have fun. Keep up the good work RLJ and thanks for all your efforts. Thank you also to Randy Wells for his never ending enthusiasm for RGruppe. godspeed, Cris Huergas p.s. we had our own Nor. Cal R Gruppe gathering at EASY last Saturday with at least 30 cars showing up. Wish I had a digital camera to share some images with you guys. I was using my 35 mm instead. Maybe some of the shots will make it in the next R Gruppe News. |

Well if you would come around more often you might get regular member status. As soon as Wayne the Boss gets you in the system it will change to member not junior member.
Not bad, we had 6 cars and you had bout'30, that means R GRuppe had 36 cars out on Saturday alone for different Gruppe functions. Thats about half of the membership from a year ago, this Gruppe is growin'. There was discussion at SIR about having a late summer picknic some where between Portland and Seattle. We will discss it more at Portland. It will be just a simple get together with food and wet cold things and let everyone lift there engine lids and bench race. Randy Jones 1971 911 BTW- Fellow board members. Gary Emory who builds all the cool 356 race cars and outlaws and was typed about in an earler post is an R Gruppe honorary member. Mike,
Its good to see your postings too. I see you're unloading a 3.0 motor. Whats up with that? Could it be that all those big displacements 911 motors at Cambria got you inspired to go for broke... What is it going to be? 3.5 twin plug, slide valve injected, or RSR spec 3.0 with mfi? Definitely something wicked, just the right stuff to showcase in Cambria for next years event. See you guys around and have fun with those early 911s. Drive em' and enjoy em'. Thats what they were made for. Cris |

I'm also hoping to get to Portland. The only problem is, late on Friday night, I will be supervising a high-voltage transformer change-over in a downtown office building.
Oh well, who needs sleep? If only Mrs. Zielke could (would) drive the Blue Bomber...I'd sleep on the 5 hour trip down I-5. ------------------ '81 SC Coupe (aka: "Blue Bomber") Canada West Region PCA The Blue Bomber's Website |
