"Special" engine cleaning or............

This 76 911 looks very nice - but what is up with the pictures of the very clean engine? All parts are excactly the same color, casing, cylinders, oil tubing, nuts etc.

Door pockets are missing - the are asking 18.500!!!! Too steep!

76

Looking at the pic's, the car appears to be in very good shape and very clean. Looks like someone spent some time and $ to either restore / clean it up.

Still, 18K for a 76 is very high..............can get a pre smog early car or a nice SC or Carrera for that kinda $$.

No engine compartment pad, but that is a very clean and nice looking car.

most of their cars has the same "clean" undercarriage - and same color on metal parts. Seems very odd!

Looks amazingly original. Original heater hoses - you almost never see that, they just wear out - original exhaust. Two items that are almost always changed. Looks like someone changed the steering wheel though.

Very clean car overall - but it does look like someone spent a lot of time cleaning it up. Still, $18K is a lot for a mid-year.

I just dont understand how they got it to look like that - none of the nice 911s I have had had that clean an undercarriage. Not a nick of rust or discoloration from heat or anything on the heat exhangers!

Be very careful.

The "nice color" on the underside and engine parts is silver spray paint, covering who-knows-what (look closely at the last picture of the engine and you will see where the paint did not cover the entire fan!--even the "cover up" is a schlock job.). The interior is missing arm rests, the dash is a cover cap, the engine is missing some smog equipment (smog pump, thermal reactors, egr components, all important in some states for registration and maybe hard to come by), the belt pulley is bent, there is no evidence of tensioner upgrade, it's missing the electrical panel cover in the engine compartment. Bottom line, the car is not as well maintained as it appears, IMO, unless it can be proven with receipts and records. Given that, it is way over priced, especially for a middie (cars which I happen to like!) and a targa at that. The description is all fluff, providing no factual information on the car's upkeep or history. Anyone seriously considering this car needs to inspect it very closely and, of course, have a ppi performed.

It has the 11 blade fan, not the original 5 blade. It still has the original fan pulley with the extra groove to drive the original smog pump. Turbo valve covers, not the original. EGR is missing. This is a replacement engine which is probably a good thing, maybe a 3.0? Wayne's engine rebuilding book in the trunk is a clue. Nice looking car for sure.

It does look like someone knew what they were doing cleaning the car. lots of blasted parts that must have been taken off the car to do. oil pressure tensioners, nice AN fittings on the oil cooler. good looking clean car. but looks are deceiving. no idea on the rubber seals for the top. The bid price is in line of what the car is worth.

As said above, that's a done-for-resale "spraycan restoration." Typical used car salesman stuff.

Hard to tell from pics, but some things just jump out. Clearly, the underside of the car and engine were sprayed and the engine components were sprayed while on the car--not just the fan but look at the muffler/ tail pipe as well. There was a good point made about this being a replacement engine which is definitely something to ask about if one is interested in the car. I agree with James about the value. As of this post the bid is just over $7,601 and given what can be seen as well as the lack of information, that's about right, IMO.

Yes. Notice bolts and claps have the exact same color as the stuff they are holding together!

My caramel brown 82 in the garage looks better and better - and honest
