Old SC is new

I had an 81 SC and an 84 carrera. I had the top end and trans done sorted out all the 30+ years of worn out wiring, hoses, and the replacement of old connectors and bushings, a cat test pipe and 964 cams. I gave it to my son who always accompanied me on Porsche runs before I had the Carrera. Long story short my Carrera needs an engine rebuild, so I haven't been able to come up with spare change yet. I've been out of a 911 for over a year!
My son had a full boat scholarship to the University of AZ. He apparently wasn't happy there, so he joined the Army. I was in for 8 years myself.
But the punch line to all this is that I'm going to have a well sorted SC to drive for about 10 months! He goes in the 20th of September, so our desert will begin to cool off, and I'll be back in my (his)SC. I can't wait.

Thank you for your services. Both you and your Son. Enjoy the company of the SC, and speedy recovery wishes to the Carrera.

Maybe you should tackle the Carrera yourself and save yourself some dough.

He is going to be an electronics tech for the military drones.
With my back, I'm lucky to push the clutch, so no moving engine and transmission assemblys.
The mechanic that has done all of the work on my cars is Ray Stephens Racing. He is honest, and an encyclopedic knowledge of all the air cooled cars. Every time I take it to him it comes back a noticeably better machine. He does a lot of earlier cars and 356's.
So, since my Carrera is a lifetime car, I want Ray to build my engine.
