Street Roll Bar........
I would like to install a street friendly bolt in roll bar in my SC sunroof coupe. What I want would have a removeable crossbar for shoulder harness mounting. By being removeable, there would still be some access to the rear of the car for cleaning windows, etc. Any input would be very welcome!
Thanks,

DAS sport works well. Do you have seats w holes for the shoulder straps?

DAS works well only in the context that the whole" rear-only section" design,..... is bolt-in and removable. Once bolted in, the cross member and diagonal are part of the welded-in section of this rear-only arrangement...and makes window cleaning difficult, not easy.....

Roll Bar
AutoPower makes one that you can remove the cross brace/diagonal
Roll hoop remains in the car. Don't suggest allowing passengers back there once removed. |

Is it legal in a street car?

Legal or not, my conscience wouldn't be clear to (say) place kids in the back if there is a removable cross bar and such. Racing cages have energy absorbing foam attached PLUS the expectation that if you hit it with your head...it's with a helmet on. Good call.

Had the Autopower. But took it out for exactly what wil said. I was hauling dogs though, and since I did not always want to plant a crate in the back it became a danger to them. Even a quick stop can be bad.

The plan..........
My intentions are to redo the interior using RS carpet set, delete rear seat hardware and use a pair of Corbeau Baja Ultra seats. The seats have the 5 harness slots, so with a mounting bar I would/could have belts for track use. I was planning on padding/covering the bar before installing it. The reason for access to the rear of the cabin is for cleaning carpets and glass. Not planning on using the rear seats except for occasional carrying space.

I have the auto power in my 72, no rear seats, I'm 6-4 and it's a ***** getting back there, but doable to clean the rear glass.

Pad the bar wherever it comes within 18" of your head. Use the high-density SFI padding.
