speedometer repair place to recommend

Thought I would mention...besides the usual speedo/odometer repair places...I used Southern Electronics in Virginia to repair my odometer and calibrate the speedo. Highly recommended. They had it in their possession, just less than 24 hours. with regular UPS land from NY, I had it back in 7 days. They gave it a 27 mile test before returning and did a fine job!

What did they charge you? My speedo is off about 5mph at 60mph. I just took out my speedo because I heard some noise in their at 60mph when I gave it some gas. My odometer isnt working so I thought it was the gears making some noise. But the gears look good! Im starting to think its the speedo cable that isnt working but the speedometer works.
Any ideas out there? Its a 74 Targa.

it was about $195..but that is to replace the gear AND calibrate. I have no idea what they might charge you. I have an electronic VDO

I had my 72 speedo done by Dash USA in Detroit around a $100,
I changed my cable first (bouncy needle) but the bouncing continued, hence the repair. Happy with the service.

SPEEDO REPAIR...

Howdy,

I recently had my "84" 911 clock repaired at Palo Alto Speedometer Service in Palo Alto, CA. Helmut Mees (sp) is second generation, I did business with his father in the 80's. They're a VDO Factory Authorized Repair station.

They charged me $135.00 with shipping for my clock repair. It was beautifully done. They were responsive to my e-mails and had good follow through.

How do you look for someone local to do this? I want to just TEST my speedo to see if it's working or if I have an issue with the wiring. I'm in Dallas...what sort of search will I do? I'm thinking there's no point in sending it all the way to Palo Alto or North Hollywood just to find out it works fine.
THanks

Thanks, I was hoping to get suggestions for looking for a local Dallas company but maybe I should just go ahead and send it to NHS.

I had my speedo done at NHWS and my tach done at P.A., both did great work.

North Hollywood for me too - they even made my gauges look older than they actually were - more along the early cars and the 356's
