Which oil line do I need?

Car is a '79SC ROW, all stock as far as I know.

Due to a leak, I need to replace one of the large oil lines which goes from the external thermostat (fenderwell, in front of right rear wheel) to the "cross-over" pipe (hard metal pipe which wraps around under the engine). The other line present goes from the thermostat to the oil tank. That looks correct in all the diagrams.

The diagrams, both here and in the PET, do not show a true representation of what the leaking line looks like, so I'm a little confused about ordering the correct one. PET indicates 911.107.743.10.

The line that does look correct in the diagrams, 930.107.743.10, is listed as being for a 1980 ~ 1989 Turbo.

Pics to follow...

Pics...arrow indicates line in question. Diagrams show a line which appears to terminate at the engine oil cooler.

Two ways...buy the oem replacement, call Glen Sager at Pelican.....he'll ID it. I had the same but different line recently replaced. It was the conversion line for equal length HEs.

OR

Pull the line and take it to a heavy truck shop that does hydraulic lines. They will rebuild it using your fittings for 1/2 the cost.

That's the line that goes from the engine block to the thermostat IIRC. I know Pelican carries them, but the ROW part of your question makes me not want to quote a part number.

That's the same part # I came up with, but if you look at it in the Pelican diagrams and the PET, it kinda curves/stops at the engine-mounted oil cooler. I guess I'll call Pelican and try to describe it.

Can the fittings be re-used? I have a hydraulic supply shop across the street.

The fittings are just barbed with a metal sleeve crimped on. That is one of the hosed that have to be changed when doing a back date (SSI) header install. I have my old one if you want it, wasn't leaking when I took it out.

Mine got screwed up after a tow. Of course they denied it....I was warming up the engine in the driveway to check the oil, dropped prolly 4 quarts of oil before I noticed. I WAS PISSED.

I was able to repair it, lasted until I could afford the replacement. I was a "little" happy because it didn't go while on the road....
