GTS Classic Seats On The Track?
I have this vision of my SC as a dual purpose weekend cruiser / DE car. It includes a suspension that is stiff, but not too stiff for cruising yet better than stock on the track. (Maybe 20/26 torsion bars?) and seats that are comfortable but hold you in place.
I am not going racing, just DE's. Any concerns about GTS Classics in this environment? The Rallye model is what I am thinking about because of its classic design. And they need to be deep blue to match my interior. Corbeau and Sparco make seats that are also blue so should I really look at these brands? Am I missing anything else?

IMO, GTS Classics would work at least as well as stock seats, if not better. There might be an argument that stock seats would be safer, but I doubt there's much difference. They will certainly hold you position better than the stock seats. I assume you will using the stock 3 point belts and not a harness bar.

Hal,
Talk to Stefan, he has done work with PCA and other sanctioning groups to make sure his seat are in compliance. He also has some new styles like his Club Sport to look at. He will also source fabrics and leather to suit. Bob |

IMHO: Most of the classic seats at GTS will hold is in quite well, but they will not look correct in your car (if you care about looks). For an SC, I would talk to Stefan about the lollipop seat. It would look period correct and give you great support. These seats are really great looking in an SC.
Oh, I have no concerns about safety with GTS seats.

I've been running the Rallye STS model for several years in my street / track '72. I couldn't be happier.
Be aware that organizations such as the PCA will require that you have five or six point harnesses if you run this seat (it has provisions for them anyway). The bolsters are too deep to be used with normal seat belts. On top of that, they now require rollover protection for cars with rigid seats and harnesses. It kind of snowballs... Really, though, one must think of seats, harnesses, and rollover protection as the three legs on a milking stool - it will fall over without any one of them. They are all inter-dependent, where any one or two without the whole package is actually more dangerous than the stock seats and seat belts. If you get one, you really need to get the other two.

DE,Track and our seats
Hi Hal, allow me to chip in...
How tall are you ? What is your pant size ? As pointed out most DE or track time officials won't let you run on these bucket seats only with a 3 point belt ( exceptions always welcomed ),When the PCA and SCCA came up with the new rules about ...provoded seat belts gudance from the maufacturer...we came up with our Trips device that you can bolt to the back of the seat. Here you could also bolt the traverse to the rollbar..as pointed out...So you could do it all...but we don't have the approval from SNELL or FIA so our seats are not race approved....many of the customers have them in their cars for DE or rallies or clubraces and are fine with them....Again the 3 point can work with the static belt routed through the side opening and the shorter receiver on the other, but if you plan the belts over the side support will not give you the safety in case of an accident as you might submarine. So please consider for track time 5 point or take the option from Schroth for automatic 4 point belts. As far as support and comfort the Rallye is the great choice and we can adapt the blue and can chose a center piece that is more comtemporary for the SC. ![]() ![]()
