'73 911 Radio
I'm looking to install a period correct radio in my '73 E, but can't seem to find an accurate answer. I've found a lot of of info that is close or refers to a dead link, but nothing I'm confident enough to shell the cash out with.
I was initially looking for Blaupunkt Frankfurt, but it looks like those were only made until '70 (series D). Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse, but I'd appreciate the help. You get a extra 'virtual beer' if you've got a good place to buy one (other than the usuals EBay, etc.) Thanks in advance. |

Period radio
Check over on the EarlyS Registry site www.early911sregistry.org they come up every now and then. Not cheap though - figure about $300 +
Or google oldtimer radio - he has loads - mostly restored so again a little pricey. But that's where the market is right now for those desirable accessories. Hope this helps,

Here are the radios that you could get installed (AT) the factory (all Blaupunkt) .
3 am/fm/cassettes: Koln (auto) - am/fm/lw Bamberg (stereo) - am/fm/lw Lübeck - am/fm 5 am/fm : Münster - am/fm Ludwigshafen - am/fm Frankfurt - am/fm/sw/lw Frankfurt - am/fm (US Band) Coburg am 1+2 /fm Of course most radios were installed at dealers , so there were probably a couple other models of Blaupunkts . Obviously Beckers, and Philips also. (I have a 68 euro. with an original Philips) You really just need to decode a proper year built radio, and anything that was built a year earlier. Or the same year as your car (remember cars were produced 1st half/2nd half of a year for one MY) and German built. And your good |
