82 SC Spark Plugs
For spark plugs in an SC,
The Bentley manual indicates WR7DP. The engine lid decal indicates WR5D. Does anyone have any experiences with either? What are the different characteristics of the two ranges for a daily driver with stock ignition? There are some negative opinions in the archives about Bosch platinum plugs...is this just for platinum? What is the best plug brand? NGK and Autolite got some positive comments in the archives, but the choices of brands, materials, and heat ranges are overwhelming. I know the gimmick plugs are not worth it. I just want a good, long-lasting and efficient plug for my SC in the best heat range, but no two references seem to agree. I'd appreciate anyone's input. Olivier

Your car takes a WR5DC (copper) or WR5DP (platinum) plug, according to the Spec Book. I think this is a cooler heat range than the 7, but I'm not sure. If so, I'd definitely go with the 5 if your engine is healthy. If they start to foul, like when an engine gets old and starts burning oil, then you go to a hotter plug.
From my experience and others', Bosch copper performs at least as well as the platinum ones. I think Bosch even makes a full platinum one, if you're going to leave them in there for 100,000 miles. But many seem to prefer the copper. NGK is just an excellent plug that will perform with the best.

I think I will try the NGKs. I have have Bosch platinums in for just a few thousand miles and they are pretty fouled.
