Smell of gas after fill-up
Purchased a 1982 911 SC a few months ago and have only filled up the gas tank once. After doing so, a strong smell of fuel until I had used 1/4 tank. Any idea??

Could be the lines from the fuel evaporator tank on the front driver side inside the trunk. I had the same type of situation. I changed mine, and the smell went away. Easy fix, and a good place to start.

+1 on what Alex posted. Check all fuel lines in trunk--there are several--and trace the complete path of each to see if any are disconnected. You also have an evaporator tank behind the left headlight you might check. Also, check the gas tank sending unit gasket as well as the gas cap itself, fuel overflow line in neck of filler pipe.

Pull the fuel filler neck, one bolt in the fuel door and two hose clamps. The area where it goes through the rubber boot most of the time rusts through. Only way to make sure is to pull it out and look at it. New parts are made of stainless steel so it's also a good upgrade. Check all the other things people have said. Do this today, you don't want to mess with fuel leaks, they tend to get worse and never end well. Make this priority one or park the car.
