'Dead' 911T
Hello,
After a couple of months of non-use I tried to take my 1968 Porsche 911T out for a drive yesterday (got some sun after a long winter). I had fully charged the battery. Normally after a period of non-use it takes a 3-4 attempts to kick the engine into life but this time after the first attempt, when I returned the key to the 'off' position the starter was still turning over without firing the engine! I ran to remove the battery connections but it stopped before I got there. I tried to restart but now it didn't even turn over. I took the battery out and recharged it overnight thinking the problem had just drained the battery. But on reconnecting the battery not even the clock 'clicked' into the life (normally first sound when I connect the battery) and the car will still not turn over. No noise from the electrics, nothing. I checked the fuses and all seem to be OK. What could be the problem? Is my battery damaged or has the ignition problem fried some other component(s)?. I want to see if it is something simple before I pay for it to be transported to a garage for them to locate and repair. Thanks in advance for any help. Woz.

Woz,
Check that the red wire didn’t become loose at the battery B+ terminal. Otherwise, I suspect the electrical contact part of the ignition switch. Search Pelican. I recall some ‘repairing’ this switch. Best, Grady
