Difficult window raising

There are several threads here by people who had trouble with an early car raising/lowering the windows and eventually broke something in the mechanism. But I can find nothing about what can be done to make moving the window easier. My mechanism is in fine shape, doesn't need to be cleaned and lubed. It's the tight fit of the rubber trim against the glass (especially in cold weather) that seems to be the problem. I tried silicon on the rubber, the obvious solution, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Anyone found something that helps?

Most likely the window frame uprights are not parallel. You need to adjust the window frame mounting bolts in the door.

Also has you car been in an accident by maybe the P/O? My front rail was curved too much in the middle so it would get very sluggish in the middle then fine towards the beginning and end of movement.

A good test is to open both doors and raise them at the same time to see if in fact the rubber seals are not the culprits.

Thanks for the tips. There's no sign of any bending etc on casual inspection but I'll look closer.

On a lot of older cars mine included the felt in the channels deteriorates and a piece of it can move behind the glass and bind the window. Unfortunately it's big job to replace the felt.

Checked everything, found nothing. Shot the rubber strip at the bottom window edge, and the felt in the channels with silicon; window now moves like a dream.
